Attrition - Fear / Devoid

Formed in 1980 by Martin Bowes and Julia Waller in Coventry, England, influenced by a mix of punk ideology and experimental art aesthetics, they emerged as part of the early '80's UK Industrial scene alongside contemporaries Test Department, Coil, Legendary Pink dots, In The Nursery, Portion Control et al. Their music is an undefinable marriage of dark and light...of futures and pasts...probing unexplored sonic landscapes with an eclectic marriage of experimental and traditional sound, of electronics and acoustics, of male and female.... Fear/Devoid - two early home recordings appear as a flexi disc with Adventures in Reality 'zine - run by the bands live visuals engineer Alan Rider...also of synth/wave band Stress... Fear/Devoid wes released as a single sided flexi by Adventures in Reality (ARR 002) in 1982. Later in 1983 both tracks appeared on the Deux Demo's cassette release by Rabbit Records (R.R. 003/83).

Various - The Last Supper

An excellent compilation tape from the 80's, a very fine mix of industrial, ndw, ambient, art-rock and experimental artists. Life At The Top

Fantastic UK compilation album on Third Mind Records ( TMLP 07) from 1984. This release was a co production between Abstract Magazine (Issue 4) and Third Mind Records. Alas my edition is without the magazine. All the artist are from the UK, and they cover a wide range of experimental sounds. The most notable artists on this compilation are Nagamatzu, Stress, The Loved One and Possession the solo project of Coil member Stephen Thrower. At almost the same time as this post my friend mister Curious Guy of Phoenix Hairpins is going to post another fantastic Third Mind Compilation album called "Could You Walk On The Waters", so have a look at his wonderful blog, and he has also posted the fantastic album of The Loved One don't miss it.

Tracks :

1. A Primary Industry - Perversion
2. Pornosect - Disinformation
3. The Legendary Pink Dots - The Lifesucker
4. Attrition - The Last Refuge

The Elephant Table Album

This album was compiled by Sounds music journalist Dave Henderson to accompany his "Wild Planet" series of articles promoting the industrial and new experimental music scenes. The art was done by Steven Stapleton. The Elephant Table Album was released in 1983 on X Tract Records (XX 001) and was re-issued on CD in 1989 also on X Tract Records (XX CD1) with new liner notes. The thing about the CD was: this is not a remastered version but a plain vinyl to CD copy. One can hear the pops and clicks from the Vinyl. The CD version has 4 tracks less than the original 2xLP. Not on the CD are:

Paul Kelday
- Birth Of Planetesimals (Extract)
New 7th Music
- New Humanity Switchboard (Extract)
We Be Echo - Alleycat
Muslimgauze
- Milena Jesenska (Extract)

So here you have the complete 2 record set. The bands highlighted in the track index are the one's who have a website ore a fan website. This is a fine sampler of industrial and experimental artists from 1983 in the UK. Some things I can ad are:

On the Bourbonese Qualk site you can download there complete catalog and a rare split tape. Bushido was the brainchild of Gary Levermore the founder of Third Mind Records. My friend at Phoenix Hairpins has posted the PUMP album "The Decoration Of The Duma Continues" witch are former members of MFH (great album). This was the first Attrition release on vinyl.
